Muffins was a feral pigeon whom I've known since he was a fledgeling. He is a blue bar pigeon, but has "muffs", which are extra feathers on his legs that make him look like he's wearing pants, a somewhat common trait in feral pigeons (from my experience, nearly every flock has at least one pigeon with muffs). I first met him in May 2025, around the time I started feeding the feral pigeons near my home. Sadly, I don't have photos from that time, but he still had those little yellow hairs that all juvenile pigeons have, it was very cute. He resembled Derpy Hooves from MLP, therefore I named him Muffins, which is one of Derpy's alternative names. Having known me since basically the moment he left the nest, he was very loyal, and he often waited for me outside, similar to how Marble does. One time, he even saw me looking at him from the window, and flew up to my windowsill. After not seeing him for over 2 months due to me being out of town for summer vacation, I was worried that he'd forgotten about me, but eventually he came back. It was great to watch him grow up, and I got him tattooed on my arm, along with Marble. I'm so happy I did that, because sadly, I haven't seen him since January of 2026. I don't know what happened to him. Sadly, I can only assume he's no longer here. He was so young. I guess I can at least find solace in the fact that his short life was a happy one, and that he got to find out that humans can be kind to pigeons. Not knowing for certain what happened to him, I cannot even grieve properly, but if there is a chance that he's still alive, I'm still hoping for him to show up one day.
Muffins... wherever you are, remember that I love you forever. And I will never forget you.
